Abstract

The integration of ICT in the healthcare domain has emerged as a different sphere and has been extensively demanded in the current era. However, several challenges encountered while integrating ICT in healthcare, this emphasizes the need to address the challenges being faced in m-health adoption. This study aims to identify, analyze, and prioritize the crucial issues encountered in the integration of ICT in healthcare systems. This study contributes to the knowledge base by formulating a hierarchical framework for the identification and categorization of the adoption challenges of m-health applications. An exhaustive list of 49 challenges has been formulated after an intensive literature search. Quantitative in nature, this study utilized the survey questionnaire method to gather data from 185 respondents. Various statistical tools like Cronbach's Alpha, Principal Component Analysis, and Logistic Regression are deployed to analyze the empirical data. Consequently, 17 challenges have been revealed as the most crucial challenges regarding the adoption of m-health. These issues have further been categorized into respective dimensions like educational awareness, supportive infrastructure, technical support, and professional culture following the prioritization of challenges. The proposed model provides a roadmap to health enforcement agencies that leads towards an efficient and successful integration of ICT in the healthcare domain. Furthermore, this study may aid the users in upbringing their interaction with m-health by spotlighting the gains of m-health and providing the guidelines for efficient usage of m-health applications.
